What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a science-backed healing process. During an HBOT session you breathe 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. The elevated pressure allows tissues to be flooded with 20 times more oxygen than normal — jumpstarting your body's natural ability to heal.

What People Say About HBOT

HBOT has helped thousands of patients recover faster, think more clearly, and perform at their best. Here are a few of their stories.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an HBOT session feel like?

Sessions are comfortable and non-invasive. You lie inside a clear pressurized chamber and breathe pure oxygen — most patients read, listen to music, or simply rest.

At the start, you may feel mild ear pressure, like descending in an airplane. It equalizes quickly.

The video below, by a clinical professional, shows what a session feels like.

How many sessions will I need and how often?

It depends on your condition and treatment goals. Standard medical protocols for wound healing or radiation injury typically use 30–40 sessions, 5 days per week. Wellness and performance protocols may use 5–20 sessions on a more flexible schedule. The table below is a rough reference — our physicians will recommend a specific protocol after your intake consultation.

What conditions can HBOT help with?

There is scientific evidence, that HBOT improves several conditions. Our physician will review your diagnosis and medical history and confirm whether HBOT is a reasonable and safe option in your specific situation.

FDA-accepted indications:

• Chronic non-healing wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers
• Tissue radiation injury after cancer treatment
• Crush injuries and compromised flaps or grafts
• Bone infections (chronic osteomyelitis)
• Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss

Conditions with strong clinical research support:

• Concussion and traumatic brain injury
• Stroke recovery
• Long COVID, persistent fatigue, "brain fog"
• Crohn's disease, Lyme disease, fibromyalgia
• Neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's and certain dementias
• Combat-related and other post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Surgery recovery, including plastic surgery
• Sports injuries
• Stem cells mobilization

Wellness uses:

• Athletic performance
• Insomnia, stress, general anxiety relief
• Skin and aesthetic uses
• General wellness and recovery

Not every condition is appropriate for HBOT, and individual response varies. We will not start a course of treatment without confirming it is medically reasonable for you.

What kind of chambers do you use?
We use FDA-approved hard-shell hyperbaric chambers capable of pressures up to 3 ATA (44 PSI) using 100% medical-grade oxygen. This equipment is universally used in hospitals throughout the world. Chambers are manufactured, tested and are maintained in the US by certified professionals.

Our facility is the only private HBOT clinic around Bellevue that uses equipment fully compliant with ASME PVHO-1 (Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy) and NFPA 99 (Health Care Facilities Code) and all other mandatory safety standards.
Is HBOT safe?
HBOT is generally very safe but is not suitable for everyone, including some people with certain lung conditions or those taking particular prescription medications. Our board-certified physicians will perform a thorough medical screening before your first session to ensure HBOT is appropriate for you.
What if I feel claustrophobic inside the chamber?
Hard-shell chambers are transparent and well-lit, which helps many patients who worry about claustrophobia. You can read, listen to music, or watch TV (we have an endless collection of movies, documentaries, series, and even opera recordings for you) during your session. Our staff stays in contact with you and can pause and depressurize the chamber within minutes. Many patients with mild claustrophobia find sessions surprisingly relaxing once they settle in. If you have significant anxiety, our physicians can discuss preparation options with you before treatment.
What can I take with me inside the hyperbaric chamber?
Only essential items should be brought into the chamber. Many patients nap during their sessions, watch TV, or listen to music. We have an endless collection of movies, series, music, and audiobooks from all over the world in different languages.
How are the chambers cleaned and sanitized?
Each chamber is sanitized between sessions using hospital-grade infection-control protocols. Surfaces are disinfected with EPA-registered hospital disinfectants; oxygen-delivery components are sanitized or replaced per manufacturer guidance; and any linens used inside the chamber are single-use or laundered after each session. Our team is trained in HBOT-specific cleaning procedures.
Do you accept health insurance?
Insurance covers HBOT for certain FDA-approved indications (chronic wounds, radiation injury, and others), though coverage varies widely by plan. We plan to bill all major insurers directly — getting credentialed with each carrier is a long process, so it will not be in place at opening, but it is a priority and we will add carriers as approvals come through. In the meantime, on request we can provide an itemized medical invoice you can submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement — or apply toward an HSA / FSA account (see below). Founding-member packages at reduced rates are available for self-pay patients who want to lock in our lowest pricing before we open.
Do you accept FSA / HSA payments?
Yes. HBOT is a qualified expense for any health-related account:
• HSA - Health Savings Account
• FSA - Flexible Spending Account
• MSA - Medical Savings Account
• LPFSA - Limited Purpose FSA
• PHSA - Personal Health Spending Account
• Others

We also provide an itemized receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity for your records.
Do you offer financing?
Financing is not available at this time, but our founding-member pricing keeps treatment affordable. You can pay for sessions on the day of service — no prepayment required. Financing plans will be available at a later date.
When does the clinic open, and how long are my reserved sessions valid?
The clinic opens in September 2026. Founding-member patients will be notified several weeks in advance and receive priority scheduling. Your reserved sessions are valid for 12 months from your first scheduled session, so there is no rush to use them right after opening.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
Your payment is 100% refundable in any of these cases:
(1) you have or develop contraindications to HBOT,
OR
(2) our physicians determine HBOT won't help your condition.

You can also transfer any unused sessions to family or friends at any time.
If you choose to cancel for any other reason, we will review your situation on a case-by-case basis.
